Relish This: Remarkable Room (8.24)

Wrapped in a muted, tranquil color palette, this master bedroom is a relaxing yet polished retreat set in a Webster Groves century home. The dark wood and creamy upholstery, as well as the crisp window treatments, enhance its classic look. We love how the window seat serves as a perfect perch for the family’s pooch, and we can just imagine how the gorgeous garden below beckons daily glances, especially during spring and summer when its flowers are in full bloom. What about this stylish space inspires you?

Relish This: Remarkable Room (8.5)

Rustic European elegance defines this week’s Remarkable Room – a spectacular great room in an inviting St. Albans estate. We love its organic ambience, including the stone wall, wrought iron design elements and nature-inspired décor, such as colorful touches in the table centerpiece. The overall neutral color palette and contrasting textures in the room’s furnishings and surfaces lend an unmistakable style to the space. What about this room inspires you?

Eco-Chic: Reclaim, Repaint, Re-Love

Jessica Pasteris, SLHL account executive, shares her thoughts on using reclaimed objects to create fresh, new looks.

There are so many fabulous ways to refurbish furniture! Whether it’s a piece that has been passed down for generations or one that you spotted excitedly at a local estate sale or flea market, the possibilities are endless.

With all of the recent emphasis on “going green,” it really makes us think twice before throwing away a piece of furniture and going out to buy a new one. As the saying goes, “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure.” And even if you don’t want to refurbish a piece of furniture yourself, someone else may have the perfect idea for giving it new life!

Try to find a local organization that collects donated items. We just bet that while you’re there, you may stumble upon your next favorite chair or table! Shabby Chic is one style that works perfectly with refurbished furniture.

In the photo of interior designer Lauren Ross’ dining room, several repainted and reupholstered antiques come together to create a truly stylish space.

St. Louis has several extremely eco-conscious shops full of pieces just like these. Next time you’re in the mood to redesign a room, visit Three French Hens, 16935 Manchester Rd., or Recycled Rose, 421 N. Sappington Rd., and see what treasures you can uncover.

Relish This: Remarkable Room (7.29)

Our newest addition to Design Relish, “Remarkable Room,” will showcase chic spaces on a weekly basis and allow us to share even more outstanding examples of savvy design throughout the St. Louis area. You might have seen some of these rooms before in a past issue of the magazine, but don’t worry – we’ll be sure to surprise you with a few never-before-seen stunners, too!

____________________________________________________________

Our first Remarkable Room is a sophisticated space that was designed with the homeowners’ college-aged daughter in mind. We love its fun yet sophisticated style. The vibrant fuchsia accent wall and chartreuse furnishings provide visual interest and contrast against the dramatic black and white elements. What do you like about this space?
