St. Louis will celebrate Earth Hour, a worldwide environmental initiative, tomorrow evening (Saturday, March 27) from 8:30-9:30 p.m. by turning out the lights to symbolize its committment to conserving energy.

Since it began three years ago, Earth Hour has gained popularity throughout the globe. Almost 1 billion people – across 41,000 cities, 87 countries and all 7 continents – took part in Earth Hour 2009. Americans alone made up 80 million of the participants, and iconic places across our country took part, such as the Empire State Building, the Las Vegas Strip and even the Gateway Arch in our own hometown.

The Arch, Busch Stadium and more local landmarks have already pledged to turn off the lights for Earth Hour St. Louis 2010. For more information on this worthwhile cause, visit www.myearthhour.org, or to pledge your own commitment, visit our local Earth Hour Web site at http://earthhoursaintlouis.com/home.html.
